Royal Padel RP 779 Whip Light 2026

The Royal Padel RP 779 Whip Light 2026 is a racket built around comfort first. Royal Padel is one of the few brands that still uses polyethylene cores instead of EVA, and the Whip Light pairs a soft polyethylene core with a round shape, a low balance and a light 345–365 g build — a combination aimed squarely at players who want an easy, arm-friendly racket.

The faces use Royal Padel’s Fibertech fibreglass with carbon reinforcement and a DMND Spin Rough diamond texture, inside a tubular fibreglass frame reinforced with carbon. It is a lighter, rounder and more forgiving sister to the Whip Hybrid, designed for players who value touch and long sessions without pain.

Royal Padel RP 779 Whip Light 2026 padel racket

Verdict

The Whip Light is one of the most comfortable rackets you can buy. The soft polyethylene core gives a cushioned, elastic feel with easy ball exit at low speed, the low balance keeps the head light in the hand, and the round shape puts a big sweet spot right in the centre. For players with elbow problems, for women who want a light racket that still has some substance, and for anyone who plays long matches, it is a very easy recommendation.

The trade-off is punch. Polyethylene softness and a low balance mean the racket does not add much pace on hard swings, so smashes and fast volleys depend on your technique. If you want to finish points overhead, look elsewhere; if you want comfort and control, it is excellent.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Soft polyethylene core — exceptional comfort and low vibration.
  • Easy ball exit at low speed, so depth from the back takes little effort.
  • Round shape and low balance give a big, central sweet spot and easy control.
  • Light 345–365 g build is quick and easy over long matches.
  • DMND Spin Rough texture gives good grip on slices and lobs.
  • Carbon reinforcement in the Fibertech faces and frame adds stability.

Cons

  • Limited power on hard swings — smashes rarely finish the point.
  • The soft, elastic feel can be less precise on fast, hard balls.
  • Pricier than many fibreglass control rackets.
  • Strong attacking players will find it too gentle.

On-court performance

From the back

Excellent. The polyethylene core releases the ball easily on slow swings, so lobs reach the back of the court and defensive shots off the glass come back deep without forcing. The round head keeps those shots forgiving even when you are stretched.

The low balance makes the racket feel light and controllable in defence, and it is easy to keep rallies going patiently until you get the right ball to attack.

At the net

Comfortable and safe. Blocks and soft volleys are very easy to control, and the light weight makes reflex exchanges manageable even for players who usually feel late.

Where it falls short is on punch volleys: the soft core absorbs part of the energy, so a hard volley to the feet needs a firm, complete stroke.

Overheads

Bandejas are the natural overhead with this racket — controlled, safe and easy to place. Víboras work well with the DMND Spin Rough surface if you cut through the ball.

Flat smashes are the weakness. With the low balance and soft core there is little help from the racket, so an x3 or x4 is hard to produce. Treat the smash as a placement shot.

Comfort & vibration

This is the Whip Light’s biggest strength. Polyethylene is softer and more elastic than EVA, and combined with the light weight and low balance it keeps vibration to a minimum. It is one of the rackets we would recommend first to players with tennis elbow.

The flip side of so much comfort is a slightly “spongy” response on hard balls; players used to a firm carbon racket will notice the difference.

Spin

Good. The DMND Spin Rough diamond texture grips the ball well for a fibreglass face, so slices stay low and lobs with topspin are easy to control.

Who is it for / not for

Good choice if…

  • You have, or want to avoid, elbow or shoulder problems.
  • You are a beginner or intermediate player who wants comfort and control.
  • You are a woman or a lighter player looking for a light, soft racket.
  • You play long matches and want the arm to stay fresh.
  • You like a soft, elastic feel with easy ball exit.

Avoid if…

  • You rely on the smash or want a racket that adds power.
  • You prefer a firm, crisp feel with maximum precision on hard balls.
  • You are looking for the cheapest comfortable racket.

Polyethylene vs EVA: what changes?

Most padel rackets use EVA rubber cores. Polyethylene, Royal Padel’s speciality, is softer and more elastic: it releases the ball more easily on slow swings and absorbs more vibration, which is why it is popular with players who have arm problems. The price is less control and pace on very hard, fast shots, where EVA feels firmer and more direct.

For intermediate women and lighter players, that trade-off usually works in your favour: most of the game is played at medium speed, where polyethylene shines. If you want a firmer response with similar weight, look at the Adidas Metalbone Team Light 2026 or the Adidas Cross It Light 2026. Stock of the Whip Light varies, so check availability before you plan around it.
